Monday morning at Sólheimar

So, now we have been here a week. We are getting to know the everyday rutines of this place.

Mornig meeting is important for everyone. Today it was told that a supporter and a friend of Sólheimar had died last night. They will have a ceremony at the church on thursday.

I went to the bakery at 8, Leena drove to Selfoss to take the car back. She offerd a ride to Glynis, a volunteryworker from U.S.A. Glynis had to go to a fysioterapeutist at Reykjavik.

Sólheimar is far from anyware, so it is quite a challange for visitors or voluntaryworkers to travel anyware. Wer were told that after walking 9 km to the bigger road, it´s very easy to hitchhike:).

The lunchhours are nice. It is allways possible to eat in different tables. Today I chose a table with some home people and a group of american students. The students are spending here 3 months studying Sustainable Development and environmental subjects. They have two teachers with them, Hank and Karen and some of the Sólheimar staff memebers also teach them the language, kulture etc. of Iceland.

Tomorrow I will visit the wood and candel workshop in the afternoon.

Perhaps you can sense the splendid oudor of the fresh bread, hmmm..

Raisa
